Innovative Usage of Pagos Software by Southern Risk

FARMINGTON, CT, October 10, 2008 – We are very pleased to announce that Southern Risk, LLC, a long time Pagos customer, was recognized in the October 2008 Issue of Insurance Networking News, 2008 INNovators Awards.
They were recognized as one of the top 20 insurance organizations for Insurance technology innovation. Southern Risk is a medium sized MGA who had difficulties finding a rating system to handle different rate structures from carriers easily, and integrate them with their policy management system. The traditional way of doing business often took too long to publish quotes for their multiple lines. In the MGA world, their 1300 brokers in 13 states were looking for service as a priority.
Southern Risk wanted to achieve “one” single user interface, and not have underwriters jump from web site to web site. They licensed Pagos Spreadsheet Services (PSS) from Pagos, Inc. The PSS software product allows for the separation of rating logic from the UI to optimize workflows through a single application. Their quoting system is developed in .NET. By maintaining all rating logic in Excel™ files, calculation logic changes are made simple giving greater speed to market. For rate calculations their software connected to PSS via XML messages to request premiums and other calculated data. Underwriters can do 90% of the work without IT resources. Now Southern Risk has the capability to react to rate changes in a timely manner. Competitiveness is the key to their success.
